From confusion to a clearer path.
Meridian Exit Group describes a structured process that starts with understanding your contract and situation before any exit strategy is considered.
What happens after you start?
These stages reflect the process described by Meridian Exit Group. Your actual experience may differ depending on your resort and contract.
- 01
Clarity
Your contract, ownership history and financial situation are reviewed.
- 02
Strategy
A path is evaluated for your specific circumstances, not a one-size-fits-all plan.
- 03
Execution
Meridian Exit Group says its professional network works the case through the chosen path.
- 04
Transparency
You receive status updates and communication as the process moves forward.
- 05
Resolution
The intended outcome is ending the timeshare obligation, when the case supports it.
Timeshare cancellation vs. resale
They are often confused, but they are different routes. The right one depends on your contract and circumstances.
| Cancellation | Resale / transfer | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Aims to end the underlying contract obligation. | Moves ownership (and the obligation) to another party. |
| Who's involved | You, your resort or developer, and any advisor you choose. | You, a buyer, and often a broker or the resort. |
| Typical market | Depends on contract terms and circumstances. | Many timeshares resell for far less than the original price. |
| Best fit when | There may be issues with how the contract was sold or disclosed. | The property has real resale demand and you want a quick transfer. |
How long does it take?
Meridian Exit Group says many cancellations take roughly 6–18 months, depending on the resort, contract complexity and jurisdiction. Some cases are faster, some take longer, and some do not qualify at all.
Before anything starts, you should receive a clear written explanation of fees, what is and isn't included, and what happens if the outcome isn't achieved.
